About Phlebectomy

Little to no pain | Very Safe Treatment | Super fast recovery

Phlebectomy (fle-BEK-toh-mee) is a simple, walk-in walk-out procedure to remove varicose veins that sit close to the surface of the skin. It is used when veins are too large to treat with injection therapy (sclerotherapy) alone. Most patients go home within an hour and return to normal daily activities the same day or the next.

Vein Removal Experiment

The Procedure

Pin-hole Phlebectomy will remove the Visible Varicose vein through slit-like incisions in the skin. This procedure involves less pain and fewer risks than traditional surgical treatment.

Before Treatment

  1. Your surgeon will review your health history and examine your legs.
  2. An ultrasound scan will be used to map the veins beneath the skin, so the exact location of each vein can be identified before treatment begins.
  3. All treatment options will be explained and any questions answered before anything proceeds.

On Treatment Day

The treatment is done in the clinic — no hospital admission or general anaesthetic is needed.

  1. The veins to be removed are marked on your skin with a pen.
  2. Local anaesthetic (numbing injections) is applied so you will not feel pain during the procedure.
  3. Tiny pinhole openings between 3 – 5mm are made in the skin over each vein.
  4. A fine instrument is used to gently remove the vein in small segments through these openings. No stitches are usually needed.
  5. A compression dressing is applied, and you will be fitted with compression stockings before you leave.

After Treatment

  1. Some bruising, mild swelling, and tenderness are normal and usually settle within 1–2 weeks.
  2. You can manage discomfort with over-the-counter pain relief and by wearing your compression stockings as directed.
  3. Most patients return to desk work the next day. Avoid strenuous exercise for 4 weeks.
  4. Best results happen when you wear the compressing stockings for 2 weeks.
